We are so lucky to enjoy the support of several local businesses, who collaborate with us in ways great and small to help feed homeless and food insecure kids in King County. Collaborations like this – in which a small business offers their time and talents and a portion of their sales as a donation – go such a long way toward supporting the community. And the best part is, everyone who participates – whether a server, a bartender, a line-cook, or a dishwasher – knows that they had a hand in feeding these kids as well. We love partnering with our local business community, and today we’re showing you just exactly what these collaborations look like.
From March through May, Stanford’s Restaurant and Bar in Northgate created two special community cocktails – the “Peachy Keen” and the “From Dusk ‘Til Dawn” – and donated a $1 from every drink sold to Backpack Brigade.
In June, Red Robin contributed 20% of food and beverage sales for one day to Backpack Brigade.
From August 15th through September 30th, the Community Cocktail returned to Ascend Prime Steak & Sushi in downtown Bellevue. To assist local students in need going back to school, Ascend Prime partnered with AHG Cares, the philanthropic arm of restaurant management Ascend Hospitality Group, and Tito's Handmade Vodka to donate $1 from every Community Cocktail sold to Backpack Brigade. In addition, Tito's made a $500 donation to the cause.
On September 24th, Mioposto’s Mt. Baker location donated 20% of all food, beverage, retail, and gift card sales to Backpack Brigade. Families from all around the community came to dine-in and carry-out, and we all ate so the kids could eat too. And the pizza was delicious!
In October, Georgetown Brewing Company released the Backpack Brigade IPA. From October 15th until October 31st, proceeds from the sale of this special beer are donated to help purchase food for hungry King County kids. Make your Halloween plans now and stop by for a pint (or two!) before this promotion ends! And join us on Friday, October 25th, at the brewery in SODO, when the Backpack Brigade team will be there celebrating the spooky season. We'll be there from 4:00-6:00pm and we hope to raise a glass with you.
Thank you to all the local businesses who donated so generously of their time, talent, and resources this year. Together, we can END weekend hunger.
If you are a small or independent business in King County and would like to partner with us on a fundraising collaboration in 2025, contact us at info@backpackbrigade.org.
